In meiner Sendung gibt es feinste Funk & Soul Musik, gepaart mit etwas Jazz , südamerikanischen Klängen, Weltmusik, durchaus weg vom Mainstream. Dabei decke ich den Bereich „früherer musikalischer Perlen“ ebenso ab, wie ganz neue Veröffentlichungen.
Für viele Fans ist die Funk-Musik Ende der 70er stehen geblieben, da die Kommerzialisierung nach deren Ansicht zu sehr Einfluss auf Stil und Ausdruck genommen hat. Das mag in Teilbereichen stimmen. Bei intensiver Recherche gilt es aber festzustellen, auch da gibt es Lücken und Randgebiete. Auch die Funk-Musik hat sich entwickelt. Bands wie Parliament, Funkadelic, Gil Scott-Heron oder auch die kommerziell bekannteren Commodores usw. gibt es nicht mehr oder sie sind nicht mehr unter uns.
Dafür gibt es neue, unbekanntere Bands, Künstler und Künstlerinnen, die sich zu entdecken lohnt. Und das sehe ich als meine Herausforderung an, nach dem alten bekannten Motto: „wer suchet – der findet.
My show features the finest funk and soul music, paired with a touch of jazz, South American sounds and world music, well away from the mainstream. I cover everything from ‘musical gems of yesteryear’ to brand new releases.
For many fans, funk music stopped evolving in the late 1970s, as they believe commercialisation had too much influence on style and expression. That may be true in some areas. However, intensive research reveals that there are also gaps and fringe areas. Funk music has also evolved. Bands such as Parliament, Funkadelic, Gil Scott-Heron and even the more commercially successful Commodores, etc. no longer exist or are no longer with us.
But there are new, lesser-known bands and artists who are worth discovering. And I see that as my challenge, according to the old familiar motto: ‘Seek and ye shall find.’

Radio Artland läuft inzwischen seit etwa 5 Jahren. Angefangen haben wir in einer Bar, die während der Corona-Zeit geschlossen war — als Möglichkeit, mit Menschen in Kontakt zu bleiben, die sich nicht persönlich treffen konnten. Seitdem sind wir mit großartigen DJs, einer Vielfalt an Stilen und Genres und — vor allem — einer fantastischen Hörergemeinschaft gewachsen.

Radio Artland has now been running for about 5 years. We started in a bar that was closed during Covid — as a way to stay connected with people who couldn’t meet up in person. Since then, we’ve grown with wonderful DJs, a variety of styles and genres, and — most importantly — a fantastic listening community.
